R15PL_KEYFOB --- ZigMo USB

Having issues setting up a single relay, with single button switch. Trying to set this up for remote door access. Everything seemed to be working fine Until I tired setting up the timer to activate relay for 15 seconds.  I have a Red LED soild on my KFX receiver, and the reciever will not engage the relay when attached to the relay board.

Hi Tyler,

There should be a solid LED on the KFX receiver all the time.  This is just a power LED.  There is another LED next to this, which should flash when you press the button on the remote control.

Let me know if this LED is working or not.  Sorry for the delay, I will be watching this thread and will be responding to you quickly.

Thanks,

Ryan

Thanks for the reply. Both lights are working. The second LED lights up when I hit the button on the remote control. The relay was engaging before i tried changing the settings.

R

Ok, it would be good to plug the KFX module into the USB interface and run Base Station.  We can look at the settings and explore the problem in greater detail.  It would be good to go back to the original settings, just to make sure everything is working as expected.  Then we can look at the timer command and see what we need to do to get it working for you.  There are some automatic configuration functions in Base Station, so this should be pretty easy.  Let me know if returning to the original settings is working as expected.

Thanks,

Ryan

I have tried using the SETUP function in the receiver configureation and that didnt seem to help. Is this what your talking about?

We could setup a call if possible.

R

The Setup button should help you a lot, please keep in mind, when you press the button, a command is sent.  When you release the button, a command is sent.  To get the timers to work properly, you will need to use a configuration similar to what is shown below.  Button 1 will activate the relay for 3 seconds in this demo.  when you release the button, no command will be sent.  This is a very important step.

Let me know if this helps:

R

One more thing, this configuration is for a 8-button key fob, please choose the correct option on the right.  Let me know how many buttons are on your key fob and I can provide a better sample for you.

T

I'm using a one button. I'll try this configuration. Thank you

Getting an error... Should i be in configuaration mode? How do I enter this mode.

R

Try running again, you do not need to change modes, it will do this for you automatically.  Be sure to run base station AFTER the module is installed in the USB interface.

T

Still getting the same error. Restarted my computer and the module (receiver) was plugged into the USB interface before I opened the program.

R

It does need to be in configuration mode, you can change the mode manually by clicking the green button.  This should not be required, as my testing is putting it in Configuration mode properly.

R

On my system, it is putting it in configuration mode automatically when you push the store button.  note that storage takes a several seconds, be patient, it runs through the progress bar 2 times.

T

It doesn't allow me to put it into config mode. I get the error message above when I try to store the configuration...

Could we setup a call?

T

Hi Tyler,

Do you have another computer you could try running this configuration on?  We have not seen this error in Base Station before when writing settings to the KFX module.  It seems this may be something unique to the computer you are working on possibly.

T

I have tried it on two seperate computers. Although, One is WIN10. Could that be an issue?

T

Hi Tyler,

We use Windows 10 here and have no issues there.  What is the OS of the second computer you tried?  Are you running windows 10 in a virtual environment like on a MAC or is this an actual Windows PC?  Ryan is currently looking into the error Base Station is throwing.

T

Other computer is running on 7 I believe. I will confirm I am rebooting it

I am looking at the code in Base Station, it appears this error can be thrown if there is a timing problem in communications.  Can you tell me what processor you are using on your computer?  Also, can you tell me if there are other USB devices that have a virtualized serial port that could be causing conflicts?  We are testing on a 4GHz Intel based CPU.  We can modify the program to work, but we have not done this for thousands of customers, I hate to change for this particular use case.  For what it's worth Tyler, I think we need a different computer entirely to test, this one cannot be resolved over the phone, this is clearly a timing problem with your CPU and our software.

T

Heres one of the PCs. I was able to configure before hand... almost seems like its stuck in RUN mode.. or something going on with the receiver.

Other PC is Intel i5 .

T

Hi Tyler,

Can you disconnect all other USB devices from the computer except for keyboard and mouse just to see if something is conflicting?

T

Okay I did this. Same error. There wasn't anything else plugged in execpt a mouse on the WIN10 computer and I took that out and reloaded the progam and tried store configuration. Same Error.

I appreciate the help with this.

T

Hi Tyler,

Unfortunately I think we have exaughsted all possible issues that can be resolved on your end.  I would recommend sending the KFX module and Zigmo in here for repair/evaluation.  We do have a fast turn around on repairs(2-3 days) and it is covered under warranty.  You can ship the KFX module and Zigmo configuration board to:

National Control Devices

430 Market St

Osceola Mo 64776

Include a note in the shipment that says please see Ryan for repair.  Also on that note include your contact information and return shipping address.  We will get it back to you ASAP.

Thank you Tyler,

Travis Elliott

T

Thanks Travis. I shipped out Yesterday.

Hi Tyler,

I have received your KFX module, it is doing the exact same thing for me.  I will do a deep dive into the configuration software this afternoon to determine what has gone wrong.  I will keep you updated.

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi Tyler,

I found the problem with your controller.  The device configuration settings have been altered, which caused a timing problem related to communications.  Take a look at the settings below which cause a timing problem with Base Station:

Here is the default/correct settings:

Unfortunately, when the incorrect settings are stored, the device needs to come to us for recovery.  We will be issuing a update to Base Station that prevent settings that will cause a loss of communications.  I will work on a patch tomorrow and provide a recovery option for KFX if this happens to anyone else.

Thanks Tyler for your patience, I will keep you updated.

Ryan

T

Ryan,

Thank you for all the help. Are you shipping the relay back to me?

Thanks,

Tyler

R

Almost, I am patching Base Station and KFX Firmware to prevent these settings from applying in the future (I am writing the code for it now).  I plan to have it ready to ship this afternoon.  You will be getting the updated firmware when I return it to you.  I would advise a Base Station update tomorrow, but the firmware will also prevent the incorrect settings.  Unfortunately, these rules need to be applied in both places and there is no way to recover a KFX module without returning it to us for anyone who is using the older KFX or older Base Station.

Thanks,

Ryan

T
